The first time Bruno did rappelling was at the age of 8. Since then he has fallen in love with outdoors activities. He graduated in Physical Education and Sports School, in which he created a support manual on climbing and rope maneuvers, intended for teachers and coaches. Bruno is also a fireman and part of the High Angle Rescue Team. In the meantime, he made the first professional canyoning course. He is a certified Guide by the Canyon Commission Internationale and is co-founder and Vice President of the International Canyoning Academy, where he is also one of the instructors who form hundreds of canyoning guides each year in Portugal and abroad.
Canyoning on Faial is an adventurous and fun activity. We use different progression techniques to descend canyons which have been formed by water erosion. To overcome canyon obstacles, we will walk, swim, climb, or resort to devices like the classic rope rappelling, guided rappel, or zip line. On Faial, the canyons may not contain water throughout the year. During the less rainy season, it is normal not to find water in the canyons.
Due to the specific nature of this activity, you must use a set of very specific, certified equipment, according to all European Norms and Directives. This is not a private tour. Canyoning on Faial is a fun way to get to know the wild side of the island. You can check our video.
